No Holiday Fabrics

(Quilts are going to foreign countries with different customs & religions)

Limit Use of Pure White

(Feed back from the missions trips is that white represents death in some cultures)

Low Loft Batting Please

Hand Tying

(For durability we prefer machine quilted, or minimum of 6 inches for ties)

Fun Facts

Wrap-A-Smile and Football

A football field measures 120 yards from goal post to goal post (or 360 feet)

And is 160 feet wide……..360 X 160 = 57,600 square feet

If the average size quilt is 40 X 48.…that works out to 3.3 feet X 4 feet or

13.3 square feet each

57,600 square feet divided by 13.3 = 4331 quilts cover ONE FOOTBALL FIELD

15,898 quilts divided by 4331 (on one field) = 3.67 FOOTBALL FIELDS

Doing the math, our total for 2010 of Wrap-A-Smile quilts will cover 3.67 football fields from goal post to goal post !

I think this is easy to visualize than a number of  15,898!!!

It has come to our attention that a rumor was spreading we had too many quilts, and that some of the quilts, stockpiled in a warehouse in California, were sold for $1 each.  This is absolutely false!  The quilts are lovingly cared for by Wrap-A-Smile until they are needed.  They are packed and shipped to organizations only in the quantity that is needed for each upcoming mission.

Occasionally we are given permission by a quilter to use their quilt as a raffle item.  When we do so the money raised is used to help pay for shipping costs and supplies or to financially support one of the upcoming missions.

Thank you to

DISTRICT 5080, an International District,  which encompasses, in part,  the south-eastern portion of British Columbia Canada has been supporting Wrap-A-Smile since Rotary's Centennial year. In 2008 quilters from Kimberley, Cranbrook, Creston, Nelson, Grand Forks, Nakusp, Beaver Valley and Salmo happily contributed 264 quilts to the cause... and more are coming.
