Rotary Minute
Vince Christinziano offered some tips on membership. He said that constantly emphasizing attendance was a turn off and that we should do things like listing the club's accomplishments on the website. Members should think about who they know that they could sponsor for membership.
Announcements
Guest Berri Kramer of the Portside Club mentioned that they had recently donated 150 dictionaries to all third graders in the Port.
Last week's Speaker
Judge Roland Cole was the presenter. He is a Superior Court Justice and has been one since 1986. He first was appointed a judge in 1981 when he became a resident judge in York County. Currently, the court's caseload is divided equally between criminal and civil cases. The courts are being impacted by financial cut backs in the public sector. The clerk's office, for example, is very short handed. He said more cuts would result in drastic cuts in service and a slow down in civil court cases. The case load in Superior Court per judge is the highest in the country, Cole said.
