Last Week
Rotary Minute
John Kreie reemphasized new membership. We have 28 active members. If half of us worked on new members (14), and half were successful, we would have a potential of 7 new members.
50 / 50
Vince Christinziano won and donated it toward the quilt raffle.

- Wells Rotary sponsored the Soups On Thanksgiving Dinner last Wednesday. HUGE success! Thank you to all the Rotarians and friends who showed up to help serve the dinner!
- Christmas Party Reminder – Sunday, December 13 – NEW TIME – 6 p.m. –8ish at East Restaurant. Spouses are invited
Last week's Speaker
Steve Rowe, Democratic Candidate for Governor, thanked Rotary for all the work they do. He spoke of the challenges the state faces - under employment, unemployment, lost homes, lost businesses, bad economy – and said that was why he’s running for governor. Steve outlined several areas he would address:
- Reduce the cost of health care – Maine has lots of facilities, but need a better way to address preventive care
- Reduce the cost of energy – Maine can’t remain dependent on foreign oil
- Infrastructure – Maine is thought of as at the “end of the line (U.S),” but is really in the middle of the World. We need to get connected
- Education – Maine has a good system but we can do better in connecting the system. We need to bring down the cost of higher education. Focusing on young children will enable the economy to blossom.
Thought for the Week
I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crises. The great point is to bring them the real facts.
- Abraham Lincoln
16th president of US (1809 - 1865)
