Last Week

Rotary Minute

Rick Goodrich encouraged the club to continue with our current efforts to recruit new members.  He shared with the club the details of the procedure both for the new member and also for the Rotarian sponsoring a new member.  Membership applications are posted for two weeks prior to taking the application to the Board of Directors for final approval.  A fireside chat is then scheduled for each applicant to be introduced to Rotary and the commitments involved.  This also gives the applicant a time to ask questions and accept the membership commitment.  The time varies for each member until they are inducted to the club as the process is followed.

50/50

Winner of the 50/50 raffle is Margaret Chigas
Donation was made to the Polio campaign.   Thank you Margaret!

Last week's Speaker

Tony Rogers and Dave St.Clair speaking on the Pine Tree Council Scouting program for Boy Scouts of America.

Dave is a 2008 Paul Harris recipient from our club and past president of NJ Rotary Club. Dave reflected on the likeness of Rotary’s and Scouting similarities through mission’s statements and our 4-way test.

“Scouting is an important part of the fabric” quoted by Dave as the Boy Scouts of America prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetime by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Laws.

The Scouting program is the fastest growing youth program of today offering young people fun and adventure, training in service leadership roles and service to community and families through this value-based program.

The Pine Tree Council to date has 12,000 youths partaking day in and day out with the scouting programs and has the help of 3800 adult volunteers. The Scouting program is about to celebrate it’s 100th Birthday and boasts 100 reasons to make the investment to join Scouting.

Whether one is a Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Star Scout or Eagle Scout;
“Scouting is the Bottom Line”

Thought for the Week

I am not afraid of the pen, or the scaffold, or the sword. I will tell the truth wherever I please.
