Last Week

Kathy Chase Award: Margaret Chigas presented an appreciation plaque to Kathy Chase for her service as president of the club this past year.

DSG - District Simplified Grant

Terry Hodskins reported to the club that we had been turned down for the grant to be used for our beautification project. The reason given was that the project was not useful enough and that it was not for the good of enough people.

Chicken BBQ - July 31

Bob Foley presented the flyers and posters for everyone to distribute. He needs volunteers for Thurs., Fri., and of course, Sat. at the barbeque. Bob asked to be told if anyone could not participate because he will be making a schedule for everyone. He also showed the club an example of the 30 "political-like" signs that will be put up around town and asked for volunteers to see him after the meeting. The barbeque is being publicized on local television, the banner will be posted at the turnpike, and there will be a release printed in the Sentinel.

Gary Leech announced that he does several benefit barbeques every year for deserving town organizations, and that the proceeds from an August barbeque will be donated to the Wells Rotary Club.

50/50 - Kathy Chase

Wells Rotary Power Point Presentation: We were then treated to a wonderful review of our club's activities by Kathy Thornton. Pictures of club members, past and present, pictures of the projects the club has completed over the years, and pictures of the club's fundraising events, all set to the appropriate musical accompaniment, were enjoyed  by all. Thank you Kathy!

    Thought for the Week

When I was young, my ambition was to be one of the people who made a difference in this world. My hope still is to leave the world a little bit better for my having been here. It's a wonderful life and I love it.
