Pledge and Prayer Assignments
August 17, 2022

Attendance included: Scott, Rick, Judy, Lee, Eleanor, Naomme, and Danielle.

With the cool temperatures and misting rain, we were delighted to find the room decorated from a prior luau.

Danielle led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.

With Rick’s guidance, Naomme offered the following prayer:

Whenever we doubt the future
Let us look into the hope of a child’s eyes.
When we make a promise to the young
Let’s ensure that we keep it.
And if we treat adults and children with equal respect
Our world will be a better place.

Great choice, Rick!

50/50:  Scott again!  Sorry, you not a winner. 😊

Wells Harbor Fest Event:
The Harbor Fest was held on Saturday, August 6th at the Wells Harbor.  The weather was absolutely beautiful!  Danielle and Naomme worked the cash table taking orders.  Scott and Bob Foley manned the grills.  Cathy Hansen was instrumental at informing the new Rotarians/volunteers of the process.  She was also amazing at keeping the orders in line with the rolls in trays for Lee to retrieve. Dan worked some magic with the condiments.  Danielle’s daughter, Abbi, bless her, froze her hands off in the cooler with the drinks.

Off the top of his head, Lee was able to recite that we sold 102 cheeseburgers, 26 hamburgers and 68 hot dogs bringing in approximately $1,200.  Marianne Foley aided in the sales with another $330 in ice cream sales. Although this wasn’t a record-breaking year when compared to years past, we certainly did well considering the overall change of the event.

Many thanks to Nick at the Wells IGA for his gracious food donations and to Melanie Tromblee (Ogunquit Rotarian) for the Big Daddy’s ice cream donations.

Round table discussions included possibly providing a similar menu for the Harbor Fest next year and a second Chicken BBQ event with live music on a different date.  More to come.

Announcements/Upcoming Events
23rd Annual Chuck Cumming Memorial Golf Tournament:  Just as a reminder, please add September 19, 2022 to your calendars.   Rick reported approximately 8-9 golf teams of the 20 teams we would like for the event.  We also have received a few sponsors.  We are still looking for donations to the silent auction.  Eleanor will generously donate a framed Virginia Souza print.  Thank you, Eleanor!   We are asking each Rotarian to donate a basket/item with a minimum vale of $25.  If you know what you will be donating, please let Naomme know.
